Partner visa evidence for long-distance couples
Time apart — for work, study, visas or distance — doesn't defeat a partner visa on its own. What matters is showing the relationship kept going through it.
What actually helps
- A clean, dated sample of contact across each period apart — a handful of messages, call logs or emails spread over time. (Not 300 pages of chat — see below.)
- Travel that maps your meetings: flights, boarding passes, entry/exit stamps, hotel bookings and photos that show you closing the distance.
- Shared life that continued: plans made, money sent, decisions taken together while apart.
The trap: unexplained gaps
A visible stretch with no contact shown is a red flag. If there was a quiet period — exams, a family crisis, a phone change — explain it. Honesty about a gap reads far better than a silent hole an officer has to interpret.
Don't overload the file
A common mistake is dumping everything: 900 unsorted pages no one will read. A curated sample across time tells a clearer story than sheer volume. Pair a few messages with travel and any household evidence from the same period so each window of your relationship is visible.
Takeaway: Show continuity, not volume — and never leave a gap unexplained.
